Hospital administration has brought positive change

To whom it may concern:

Regarding the letter published on April 10, 2018, “Ambulance Service Members Explain Why They Are Running for Hospital Board”:

Many of us at Mineral Community Hospital have been employed here for several years. In that time, we have seen multiple changes to our administration. We believe our current management is a drastic and positive improvement from the administration we had here approximately five years ago.

It is because of the knowledge, dedication, and perseverance of our present administration that Mineral Community Hospital has remained open and available to the public.

If this hospital closed, it would be a travesty to this community. It would also result in the EMTs transporting patients an additional hour away, consequently detouring patient care which could be critical, and possibly even deadly.

We have great admiration and respect for our Ambulance Service. They do a great job and we are lucky to have them in our community. We believe that they are very knowledgeable and capable.

The financial aspect of the hospital is an important part of patient care. Without the careful consideration of finances, our doors would close and we would not be here for the community. We need these funds to make our departments run in a safe and efficient manner. We provide many services, and great patient care is our main concern. The financial aspect must be taken into consideration, but does not in any way “supersede patient care.”

We provide services for:

Inpatient care, Emergency Room, Observation, Long Term Care, Lab, Radiology (X-ray, CT, Echocardiograms, MRIs), Physical Therapy, and Specialty Clinic Doctor (Ear, Nose and Throat). We also do Colonoscopy and EGD services, outpatient surgery, Telestroke, and Telepsychiatry appointments.

Each morning we recite a daily pledge geared toward the mission statement of our hospital, which is to improve the health and quality of life of our community.

We are also working on additional programs to bring to Mineral County. We hope to grow and be here for our patients, when they need us.

We are proud to work at MCH, while serving this community.

Thank you!
