Lady Bluehawks have strong showings

The Thompson Falls Lady Bluehawks track team had several strong individuals that shined in the Big Sky showcase Saturday afternoon in Missoula.

T-Falls’ distance runner Josie Neesvig excelled at Big Sky and capped the distance portion of the race with two top-five finishes. Neesvig set personal records in both the 800 and 1,600-meter run. Neesvig finished second in the 800-meter run recording a time of 2 minutes, 41.23 seconds and fourth in the 1,600 meter run with a time of 5 minutes, 47.26 seconds.

Distance runner Rachel Ribeiro finished third with a time of 14 minutes, 33.72 seconds in the 3,200-meter race.

Miya Stiles also placed third in the pole vault with a throw of 7 feet, 6 inches.

The Thompson Falls Lady Bluehawks dominated the running events Thursday afternoon at the Thompson Falls Invitational.

Josey Neesvig finished first in both the 800 and 1,600-meter run. Neesvig recorded a time of 2 minutes, 41.58 seconds in the 800 and also finished with a time of 5 minutes, 55 seconds in the 1600-meter run. Sierra Hanks finished fourth in the 800 with a time of 3 minutes, 3.40 seconds.

Neesvig’s teammate Haley Morgan captured first place in the 400-meter dash recording a time of 1 minute, 8.36 seconds. Megan Baxter finished third with a time of 1 minute, 10.31 seconds.

Distance runners Rachel Ribeiro finished first in the 3200-meter run with a time of 14 minutes, 14.45 seconds. Hanks also placed third recording a time of 16 minutes, 10.68 seconds, a personal record.

The Lady Bluehawks also did well in the hurdling events. Riley Wilson finished second in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 18.68 seconds and Kacey VanZanten placed third in the 300-meter hurdles recording a time of 57.20 seconds.

Thompson Falls’s relay teams excelled. The team consisting of Haley Morgan, Gabriella Pallister, Maya Stiles and Sarah Detlaff finished third in the 4X100 relay recording a time of 56.95 seconds. The 4X400 relay, which consisted of Neesvig, Riberiro, Detlaff and Morgan, placed second with a time of 4 minutes, 56.61 seconds.

Jody Detlaff finished first in the discus event recording a throw of 75 feet, 4 inches and also showcased her athletic versatility by placing first in the high jump leaping to a first-place finish with a 4 foot, 9-inch jump, a personal record. Teammate Riley Wilson recorded a jump of 4 feet, 6 inches, also a personal record.

Stiles finished fourth in the long jump clearing a personal record of 14 feet, 3 inches and Wilson placed fourth in the triple jump with a personal record of 30 feet, 2 inches.

Stiles finished second in the 100-meter dash with a time of 13.92 seconds. Teammate Haley Morgan placed fourth with a time of 14.06 seconds, a personal record. Gabriella Pallister placed fifth with a time of 14.24 seconds.

Morgan also placed third in the 300-meter dash with a time of 30.19 seconds in the 200-meter dash.
