A recent letter to the public from the Plains Business Association has tackled recent rumors of the group shutting down.

Erika Lawyer, who is the current treasurer for the association, said in the letter that they are still up and running, however there are some changes planned.

The letter states, “To begin, we are not disbanding, We are still an on-going organization with roughly $7,000 to work with in promoting our area.”

It continued to state that the association has scrapped the PBA Dollar program it had previously run. She said there were hardships in administering the program due to limited volunteer resources.

“We are actively participating in advertising opportunities that have a far reach and tout the benefits of visiting our ares,” she stated in the letter.

The association is currently focused on the upcoming Plains Days event which hopes to be the biggest event yet in the town.

The event will be spanning from Frida, June 1 through to Sunday, June 3.

They are also working on renewing their website with more up to date information. Lawyer stated in the letter, “Our webpage garners multiple calls per month from people inquiring about our town so we would like to make the a regularly updated venue.”

The will also revamp their sign on the outskirts of the town and all other opportunities that they feel are able to handle efficiently.

The association encourages those local business owners to get involved and consider helping make Plains Days a success for 2018.

The letter, which a copy can be obtained at City Hall on West Lynch Street in Plains, can be read in full, and also has information on how to become a member of the association.

The upcoming Plains Days will boast a range of family friendly activities for locals and visitors to enjoy which include: flag football, a 5k fun run, dunk tank, turtle races, a community dance, basketball, softball tournaments and much more.
