Thompson Falls makes the Historical Society calendar

Young Walter Dean III and an unidentified man survey the damage after a train wreck on July 30, 1915, near Forsyth, where flooding destroyed 600 feet of track.
The washout caused the engine, postal car, and baggage car of this Chicago, Milwaukee & St. Paul train to derail, but there were few injuries in the accident.
This favorite photograph, taken by Walter Dean, Jr., is featured on the front of the new 2019 Montana Historical Society calendar, themed “railroads, depots, and train passengers.”
