Leon Cordis

Leon Cordis, 84, died from cancer at his home in Georgia on Oct. 9, 2017. Leon was born May 18, 1933 in St. Ignatius to William and Grace Cordis.

Leon spent most of his life driving semi-trucks; logging and hauling wood chips for U&R trucking. He retired to Plains where he drove a school bus and worked for Wal-mart. In 2004 he moved to Georgia where he spent his final years.

Leon enjoyed the outdoors particularly camping, fishing, boating and driving his motorhome. He was also a diehard UM Grizzly fan. He coached the Stockman’s Bar Little Grizzly Football team and was a member of the Century Club. Leon was preceded in death by his sister, Carol; and brother, Ray; and is survived by his wife, Karon Cordis; daughters, Lori Cordis, Beverly Maas (Darryl), Barbara Cordis-Lowe (Tom), and Bonnie Holzworth; step-son, James Haworth (Jillian); sisters, Elvera, Delores, Dorothy; brother, Chuck; nine grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and the mother of his daughters, Mary Lou Cordis. A celebration of Leon’s life will be held on Saturday, May 26, 2018 at 1 p.m., at the Swift Center, 315 S. 4th St. East, Missoula. The family requests you wear your favorite Griz attire to honor one of Leon’s greatest joys, the Griz.
