Plains is set to celebrate their annual Plains Day like wild horses running across the valley.

With an abundance of activities, the Plains Business Association has teamed up with an array of local businesses to ensure there is truly something for everyone.

The three-day celebration will boast plenty of activities around town including the return of Smokey Bear all thanks to the Plains DNRC office.

Not only will the parade boast all things Plains and Montana, there is always something to enjoy as the small parade makes its way across town with the involvement of businesses, families and local non-for profit organizations.

Though what better way to kick off a weekend full of celebration and fun events, than with a game of Flag Football down at the Plains High School.

Closely followed by the ever exciting Alumni Basketball Games in the gymnasium.

Even though the local school just farewelled students for the summer vacation, it will be once again packed full of fun and laughter as kids will get to watch some of the local ‘greats’ have their turn on the field and the courts.

Not wanting to miss out on all the fun, the local Masons in Plains will host a pancake breakfast at the Plains VFW for those early birds on Saturday morning officially kicking off the days events.

With a jam packed Saturday that begins at 7 a.m. and runs through to the last event which kicks off a 6 p.m. at Fred Young Park; authorities are urging event goers to stay respectful and safe over the weekend.

Even though this years Plains Day celebrations are still the same fun activities seen in years past, some locations have changed such as the parade from Main Street to Lynch Street; heads up to those that travel across Lynch Street it could prove to be a little difficult with streets shut down.

The full length of Lynch Street will be closed down briefly for the parade, and parking, will be limited. Even with the option of parking on Main Street, you may have to arrive early and find a spot.

Parents are also encouraged to keep an eye on the little ones as they cross the rail road tracks to Lynch Street to enjoy the parade.

The other friendly reminder from local authorities is to remember that there are no open alcoholic containers allowed outside licensed establishments.

Though it hasn’t proved to be an issue in the past, a small reminder is never harmful, especially with all the excitement that is sure to be seen.

With the Lions Club working hard to secure some local celebrities for their dunk tank, it will be hard for event revelers to not take advantage of such a fun carnival past time.

Though the dunk tank may seem to be a major highlight, it will be hard to compete with that of the ever popular turtle races.

With an expected twenty or more turtles to hit the tracks in the each of the heats, Rocky Mountain Bank is sure to be packed full of cheers to see who will be crowned the winner at this 2018 Plains Day Celebration weekend.
