Wildcat tracksters shine at MHSA Class C state meet

All season Clark Fork has boasted of top performers in various events.
The Wildcats and Lady Wildcats showcased their skill when they finished in the top-8 at four different events at the Class AA and C Montana High School Activities state track meet Friday and Saturday at Laurel High School.
Hailey Kelly displayed her skill as a thrower at state, recording a javelin throw of 119 feet, 8 inches, a personal record.
The Clark Fork relay team that consists of Madison Mask, Sophia Krutilla, Margeret Parkin and Kylie Plakke also wons accolades in the 4x100 and 4x400. The relay team finished seventh with a time of 52.95 seconds and in the 4x400 recorded a time of 53.19 seconds.
Trey Green placed fifth in shot put setting a personal-record of 44 feet, 9 inches.
Sophia Krutilla also showcased her skills with a time of 13.64 seconds in the 100-meter dash.
The Superior track, led by their coach Jamie Toivonen and her staff, who said they worked hard to get their kids ready to perform on the MHSA’s biggest stage.
“It’s a lot bigger of a stage,” Toivonen said in a pre-race interview. “It’s going to be a different atmosphere because they kick the coaches off (the track before the race). For most of the kids (the experience) will be brand new at this time and we have to prepare them on what to expect and give the kids an overview of state. There will be a couple of thousands of people at the state event and it will be way different than any of my kids have experienced.”
