New Town Pump in Plains begins operation Dec. 5

Construction is wrapping up on the new Plains Town Pump and Lucky Lil’s Casino. Over the next week, Plains team members and other Town Pump associates will be setting up the new convenience store and casino with an opening date of Wednesday, Dec. 5.
The newly completed store — open 24 hours a day, seven days a week — will offer more than 10,000 square feet of retail space, including a larger deli service area, wine department and a greater product offering. The footprint of the convenience store is 10,100 square feet. With 40 cooler doors, customers will find dairy products, luncheon meats, water and soft drinks, and a greater selection of beer and wine. The 10 freezer doors will feature frozen food items.
Store manager Alan Fink said, “Our team is excited about moving into the new store and being able to serve our loyal Town Pump customers with a greater variety of products.”
Featuring Conoco fuel, the new facility will have 14 fueling stations and three high-flow diesel stations.
Town Pump first began selling fuel in Plains in 1996. The new store replaces the existing 3,000-square foot store that was opened 30 years ago.
The new 3,200-square foot Lucky Lil’s Casino is nearly three times the size of the current casino.
“While we will have additional space, some things won’t change,” said Lucky Lil’s manager Kristi Sample. “Our players will always find our friendly service, exclusive games, and our Player’s Rewards Club.” The new Lucky Lil’s will also feature more convenient parking.
The newly-constructed building was built to be energy efficient and includes LED lighting — both inside and outside of the store.
“With skylights and the LED lighting we are able to take advantage of daylight harvesting to offset the amount of electric lighting needed for the building,” stated Town Pump Construction Manager Dan Sampson.
Tobiness Construction served as general contractor on the new construction. Before construction began, 23 truckloads of trash that had been buried on the site had to be removed.
Town Pump, which is open 24 hours a day, seven days week, is currently looking to fill three positions with the new store and expects to add additional positions in the summer season. Interested individuals can find information at www.jobs.townpump.com.
There are more than 200 Town Pump convenience stores in Montana and Idaho combined, including 103 stores in Montana. There are a total of 100 mini casinos, 14 hotels and 22 car washes.
The Plains Town Pump will plan a grand opening early this winter.
