Single-vehicle wreck at 382/200 junction

What was first called in to be a multi-vehicle wreck on the junction of highways 382 and 200 turned to be a single-vehicle crash with two occupants involved.

The female driver was traveling westbound from Missoula and came upon the Hot Springs turnoff at Perma and lost control of her vehicle.

Air bags were deployed in the white Pontac minivan, and the vehicle came to stop on a concrete barrier with some front-end damage to the van.

Montana High Patrol (MHP) Trooper Jordan Kost attended the scene along with Hot Springs Rescue and Ambulance, as well as Plains Ambulance.

A 10-year old male passenger was treated on scene, with no major injuries; however, he was transported to Clark Fork Valley Hospital as a precautionary measure.

The 20-year-old driver was said to have taken the curve too fast and lost control on the wet roadway with localized rainfall that had occurred. She was treated on the scene by medical professionals, though she did not require any further medical attention.

Both the passenger and driver are said to be from Hot Springs, making their way back home.

Kost advised that the driver was cited for careless driving and urged motorists to take care with weather changes.

“Drive to conditions,” he said.

With winter weather beginning to arrive, those who wish to transfer their vehicle tires can now do so with studded tires allowed until May on Montana roads.
