The City of Thompson Falls is looking for a new mayor after Mark Sheets announced his resignation at the recent town meeting.

Sheets turned in his resignation Monday, Oct. 8 at the Thompson Falls City Council meeting and the council voted to accept his resignation, according to a representative of the city.

“The vouncil decided to advertise for two weeks for letters of interest for the mayor position with a deadline of Oct. 25,” said the release.

It was stated that former Thompson Falls Public Works Director Jerry Lacy turned in a letter of interest to the council that same night.

Sheets stated at the meeting that, “It is not a health issue, it is a time issue.” It ended up taking up more time than he anticipated. He also said he is happy to stick around and help with any transition.

There was no further information available to any other particulars for the upcoming transition, or when Sheets would officially finish his position as the mayor.
