The Clark Fork Valley Hospital 2018 Women’s Health Fair once again returned for women from around the county to provide information to gain a full and healthy lifestyle.

This year, the fair set up in the Plains High School gym, as women from all around converged to the event that not only indulged in a gathering of empowered women’s health, but also get a chance to chat to professionals should they need some guidance on any issues regarding health or healthy living.

From the moment you entered through the doors, you were greeted with a smile from Clark Fork Valley Hospital’s Aria Morgan and given a bag that could hold plenty of freebies that were being offered by vendors.

Once you collected your bag, you were also given a card so you could take down your numbers for the blood pressure and glucose testings. The same card that was offered last year, this also enabled every woman to get some vital information on their immediate health and also was able to help track levels for blood pressure, glucose and more.

Kate Whipple-Kilmer, a clinical psychologist from the CFVH, was on hand to offer women some alternatives to reducing stress in their lives. From stress stones, to mindful eating and even some coloring pages, she was there to have a chat with anyone who was looking for some alternatives to reduce the everyday stress they may be encountering.

Sanders County Coalition for Families was there as well, the Thompson Falls-based advocacy group was there for women to chat to should they need and also offer any information they may be looking for as well.

From there, MSU Extension officers were on board to talk to anyone who stopped by the booth. Jeanette Allday also had information for the upcoming Lunch and Learn 2019 series to which she said is just the 2018 series is nearly finished and had a great local turnout.

FOR SOME lucky fair-goers, they also received a gift certificate for a cholesterol screening from the Clark Fork Valley Hospital. Just like your blood pressure and glucose, checking for healthy cholesterol is another important easy check-up that women should take advantage of.

The Plains Woman’s Club as well was seen at the fair, members talking to ladies about what they do and how to be a part of the local chapter.

The club members come together to become a team of volunteers for their community — believing that they create a difference in the lives of people young and old by working on community projects or outreach of support.

Members chatted with women as they made their way past their table, answering questions and just having a nice chat.

Scattered throughout all tables, were information packets on a range of health products and products that can directly help any woman should they require extra assistance.

Toastmasters, Tobacco Prevention and mental health tables were also seen at the event — only extending on what was seen last year.

Sanders County Public Health was also on hand, offering free flu shots for ladies who stopped by and where looking to get the jump on the flu season. With some cases already confirmed within the state this year, this quick stop at the health fair was one that some women took advantage of.

From information pamphlets to freebies and free health checks, women of all ages made their way to this successful day talking to professionals that directly relate to women’s health and healthy women wanting to connect.
