Every year the St. Regis Community Council holds the St. Regis Scarecrow Contest, followed by a community potluck dinner and dance. This year, 13 scarecrows were entered and lined the fence located on the frontage road off Highway 135 in St. Regis.

The contest started Oct. 20 and entries were judged on Oct. 27. First place went to a wicked witch by Emily and Janet Park. Second place was a ghoulish spider by Marie Lewis, and third place went to The Gold Nugget RV Park by Mark and Leslie Leenhouts. Complete with a couple of scarecrows wearing “Nugget RV Park” golden T-shirts, with a man (aka, Mark) holding a plunger and the woman (aka Leslie) wearing a pair of galoshes, or are they “ghoulashes?”
