The Plains Trotters are bounding forward as the volleyball season kicks into full gear, and the team is really starting to come together as head coach Jess Butcher tells.

“Our team is growing in ‘chemistry,’ and that is what is giving them the ability to gain momentum,” she said.

She added that the team’s potential as a whole is almost underrated as to the rate to which they are gaining.

“They are only starting to grow, really, there is a lot of growth left in this team, there is so much potential. I have always been confident in this team,” said Butcher.

With two matches last week, the Trotters took on both St. Regis on the road and hosted the Clark Fork Mountain Cats last Thursday.

“I have always been confident in this team, my challenge (as a coach) has been instilling that confidence in them. But, with the growth, and getting a few ‘W’s’ under their belt, their confidence is growing. Right now, we are fine tuning a few things, and focusing on staying a strong serving team,” said Butcher of her outlook with the team.

The Trotters certainly worked the net and improved with their serving game when the went up against Clark Fork last week on the home court.

As they rotated through the positions the varsity side looked to be more in sync with each other as they were ensuring they got into position should someone need the backup to keep control of the ball.

It took until the fourth game for the Trotters to be able to clinch the win over the visiting Mountain Cats.

The Trotters are now on a four-match winning streak, having taken victory against Clark Fork, St. Regis, Granite and Victor.

”We are doing really well and hope to keep up the momentum,” said Butcher.

All players on the team are taking the court by storm as Dakota Butcher, Kylee Altmiller, Audrey Brown, Emma Morgan, Natalie Deschamp, Rachel Huenink and Hayley Josephson switch and dig deep to gain points in aces, kills, digs, assists and blocks.
