William Silverthorn

| September 19, 2018 12:21 PM

William Russell Silverthorn, born Feb. 8, 1959, to Samuel Cecil Silverthorn and Laurayne (Toddy) Silverthorn, passed away Sept. 5, 2018.

Bill, or “Willy” as he was affectionately known by many, was an avid fisherman and hunter although in his later years he found he enjoyed watching the wildlife more than the hunting of it.

He also loved to ride his motorcycle and was often seen on his Harley with his beloved dog Sasha in the side car.

He was a kind man who always had time for anyone. He always offered a helping hand to any who needed it. From plowing snow for members of the community, hauling garbage to the dump for those unable to, to working on vehicles for those who needed help. The kindness, generosity and respect that he showed to all is something that is too rarely found.

Bill was a devoted son, beloved brother, adored father and grandfather, and a dearly cherished friend to all who had the pleasure of knowing him. His laughter and warm embrace will be forever missed. We take comfort in the memories that we have and the knowledge that he touched the lives of so many around him in such a positive way. He was truly a great man.

He is survived by his mother, Laurayne (Toddy) Silverthorn; daughter and son-in-law, Shela and James Herring; grandson, Christopher Raymond; brother and sister-in-law, Gary and Jeri McNeil; sisters, Dorothy Sheppard, Lucille (Toots) Hawley and Vi Rowan; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. A memorial service was held in Paradise on Sept. 15.
