Fall Extravaganza to benefit Cancer Network of Sanders County
Once again, Cancer Network of Sanders County (CNSC) is ready for their annual Fall Extravaganza. The event is their biggest each year and raises money for CNSC with this year’s theme celebrating the “Fall Season.”
The event will be held on Oct. 4, with doors to the Plains VFW opening at 5 p.m., with dinner about 6 p.m. and a live auction around 7 p.m. The event times were staggered as such to ensure everyone who wishes to attend has the ability to do so. The event usually finishes around 9:30 p.m., according to Cathy Miller of CNSC.
The main purpose of the evening is to raise funds for CNSC, the local non-profit organization that aids in financial assistance to any Sanders County resident currently undergoing treatment for cancer.
In 2001, when CNSC formally started, the organization were only able to give a $50 one-time gift.
“As we have experienced considerable growth each year since then, we are now able to give a $900 gift annually. The ability to do this is always dependent on having a generous crowd at our events,” said Miller
As the amount of money raised through fundraising events and donations increased, so have the gifts they are able to give. If for some reason, the amount of money they raise goes down, so will the amount of money they are able to distribute. Thus far, though, it continues to grow.
CNSC wishes to invite all who wish to join in on a fun night out at the Fall Extravaganza. This year, they are hosting the event with entertainment provided by The Fire Creek. There will be dinner, refreshments, entertainment, games, raffles, a silent auction, and a live auction, featuring Kevin Hill.
“We have a wide variety of items for the silent and live auctions ranging from baskets to Griz/Cat football and Griz/Cat doubleheader basketball tickets to special T-shirts to baked goods, to snowshoes, and a very special Alaskan working sled that was hand-made by an Alaskan Eskimo Native and more,” added Miller. ”There is bound to be something special for everyone.”
“This event is the main fundraising event for Cancer Network. If you are a Sanders County resident and you are currently undergoing treatment for cancer, you can get a form at any financial institution in the county, any clinic, and a variety of other offices, fill it out, send it in to CNSC. And if all the information is good, we can send you a check for your use as needed. This is an annual gift, but you have to apply for it each time you request assistance,” explained Miller.
Tickets for the Fall Extravaganza can be purchased at Garden Gift in Plains, D&D Liquor in Thompson Falls, or at the door. You must be age 21 or older to attend.
