Plains Vacation Bible School 'Roars' for local youth

The Plains community is well known for supporting its members, and the churches are no exception.
Every year, now for more than 12 years, the Plains Bible Chapel has been hosting a Vacation Bible School for the youth of the Plains area.
The program is free to participating kids of young ages. It is a weeklong school where kids start at 9:30 a.m. and stay until 12:30 to learn about the Lord and enjoy themselves with music, dance, arts and crafts, bouncing houses and more.
This year was the biggest yet, hosting more than 100 kids. They are grouped by ages and given a leader who traveled with them throughout their time at the chapel.
There were a record 40 leaders this year and even more staff and volunteers. Snacks were provided as well as lunches and prayer time.
Every year the church changes the theme, which is chosen by the youth of the church. This year the theme was “Roar!”
The school featured animals from the wild and activities were centered around learning about wild animals from far away places and dressing up in expedition attire.
The kids were provided shirts, Bibles and prizes. At the end of the week the winners of competitions won big prizes.
The program is just one way the church gives back to the community.
The whole event was organized by Kari Bauer and her husband, who themselves have 10 children.
“It’s amazing to see so many people give up a week from their busy lives for god and these kids,” said Kari. “Many of the kids who attend look forward to the vacation bible school every year.”
