Mountain Cats wrestlers finish sixth at Owen Invite

Five placewinners helped catapult the Clark Fork Mountain Cats wrestling team to a sixth place finish at the 43rd Annual Owen Invitational in Pablo last weekend.
Held Dec. 6-7 at Salish Kootenai College’s Joe McDonald Fitness Center, the prestigious tourney hosted 20 schools and hundreds of wrestlers from across Northwest Montana.
Wesley Buchannen and Trey Green each placed second while Decker Milender, Chanden Vulles and Jacob Lapinski each placed fifth.
Buchannen, wrestling at 145 pounds, rolled to the finals with four straight first-period pins before getting caught and pinned in the second period by Corvallis grappler Triston Davis.
For Green, wrestling at 182 pounds, he pinned his way to the finals before also getting caught and pinned late in the first period by Florence’s Kyler Alm.
