Lady Hawks fall to Mission; host Bigfork for Senior Night

Playing without the services of 6-foot sophomore Megan Baxter, the Thompson Falls girls’ basketball team fell behind Mission early last Thursday at St. Ignatius, and the Lady Bulldogs posted a 53-38 non-district win.

T-Falls caps the regular season by hosting Bigfork for Senior Night on Saturday. Sarah Detlaff, Maya Stiles and Trinity Godfrey will play their final game on their home court, and will be recognized along with their parents.

The Lady Hawks struggled offensively early against Mission, doubled by the Lady Bulldogs 20-10 in the first period. T-Falls held Mission to four points in the second stanza, but managed to score only four.

T-Falls’ deficit was 37-23 after three quarters.

Sophomore Jody Detlaff led the Lady Hawks with 17 points, and freshman Caity Alexander added nine.

Addison Arlint paced Mission’s balanced scoring, netting 13 points. Azai Umphrey had 10, Karolyna Buck and Sydney Brander nine each, and Madyson Currie had eight.

Thompson Falls has a 2-3 District 7B record and 5-12 overall mark going into Saturday’s game against Bigfork. T-Falls, Bigfork, Eureka and Troy from the district play in the divisional tournament Feb. 21-23 at the Ronan Events Center.
