Please pledge your support for E.L. Johnson Memorial Pool

Friends and neighbors:

Swimming is the center of summer in Plains for many residents. It has recently come to the attention of Committee for Safe Swimming (CSS) that E.L. Johnson Memorial Pool is losing 15,000 gallons of water a day into the ground, affecting the infrastructure of the pool and the ocst of pool heating and chemicals.

CSS has been working with Mayor Dan Rowan on estimates to repair the plumbing, ports and concrete decking. The Town of Plains manages day-to-day operations, but it takes an extrm amount of creativity and money to keep a facility of 50 years of age going.

That being said, CSS currently has $20,000 committed to the project as we embark on a fundraising campaign to raise another $30,000 for a total goal of $50,000 toward these repairs. Having our pool full of water and functioning for the 2019 swim season is our utmost goal. On behalf of Committee for Safe Swimming, we are asking you to consider financially supporting our endeavor.

Since CSS is a 501(c)3 entity, donations are tax-deductible. They can be made in several ways — by mail to CSS, Box 1546, Plains MT 59859; deposited at Rocky Mountain Bank or First Security Bank; or by contacting Erika Lawyer. Questions can be directed to me at 406-826-3656; Erika at 406-544-8493; or Kathy Gregg at 406-826-3146.

Together we can fill our pool, continue its legacy, and keep our community safe.
