Wrestling

Last weekend wrestlers from the northwest participated in the Jug Beck Rocky Mountain Classic at Sentinel High School in Missoula. The teams were primarily from Class A and AA schools with the Clark Fork Mountain Cats (Alberton/Superior co-op) the only Class C school participating.

Coach Logan Labbe said the team has been going to the tournament for years and continued that tradition during Friday and Saturday competition. Trey Green, 22-6, placed seventh in the 182-pound class with a win over Frenchtown, Tate Jones (Fall 1:43) in his last consolation match.

Three teammates participated — Isaiah Kovalsky, Hunter Haskins and Thomas Anderson. The team placed 30th out of 31 teams where Mead (Washington) took first place.

Next, the Clark Fork Mountain Cats will be at the Ted Kato Invitational in Thompson Falls on Jan. 19, and at the Thompson Falls Quad on Jan. 24.
