Darcy Rae Winston, 54, passed away on June 17, 2019, in Kalispell, Montana. Darcy was born May 20, 1965, in Atlantic, Iowa, to Jack and Emy Barringer. She attended elementary school in Atlantic and Hastings, Nebraska until the family moved back to Iowa in 1976, locating in Ames, where she attended Junior High and High School, graduating in 1983.

Darcy attended Cornell Collage, Mt. Vernon, Iowa, graduating in 1987, with a BA in Education and Early Childhood Development. During one of her summer breaks she went to Denver where she lived with Jackie Spedding, working as Nanny to Jackie’s three daughters. Upon her graduation from Cornell College, Darcy was offered a permanent job with the Speddings as a live-in nanny for the three girls, who had since moved from Denver to Hawaii. It was in Hawaii where Darcy met her husband and father of her three children.

After marrying, Darcy lived in Cedar Rapids, where all three of her children were born, until moving with her family to Plains, Montana in 2003. They purchased seven acres of land and physically built their little “cabin in the woods.” Darcy loved these seven acres and her log cabin home and spent much time caring for the property, gardening and making a home for her family. Darcy was a stay-at-home mom and home schooled all three of her children. Her most recent joy was the birth of her two grandsons. Darcy loved being “Gramma.”

The last several years she worked in children’s ministry with her best friend, Darcy Ready (WEBE King’s Kids). They spent the summers traveling to different Bible camps and churches holding Vacation Bible Schools, teaching children about Jesus.

Darcy is preceded in death by her grandparents, John and Bess Barringer, Fred and Pauline Walter, and several aunts and uncles.

She is survived by her three children, Caleb Winston, Charis (Matt) Biklian, Mara (Lester) Lee, and two grandsons, Jade Biklian and Xander Lee, her sister and brother-in-law, Kelly and Steve Mason, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Darcy’s final resting place will be in Atlantic, Iowa, where she was born. There will be a celebration of Life for Darcy at The Church on The Move in Plains, Montana at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 13, 2019. Johnson-Gloschat Funeral Home and Crematory is caring for the family.
