Oren Wood

| June 7, 2019 12:16 PM

Born April 22, 1933, Oren Wood grew up in Plains, Montana, the son of Marie and Marshall Wood.

All during his high school years, he had a paper route except for the summer of his junior year, when he worked for the Forest Service on a fire lookout.

After graduating in 1953, Oren joined the Navy and worked as an electrician. While stationed in Japan, he met and married Emi and fathered his only child, Marshall. In 1973, after 20 years and several merit badges, Oren completed his military service and continued working as a civilian electrician in the Naval shipyards in Norfolk, Va.

Sadly, he lost his son, Marshall, and later his wife, Emi, during this time. After his retirement, Oren married Patricia Ann Couch in 1999. This union filled his life with three daughters, their husbands, 10 grandchildren, and eventually a total of 18 great-grandchildren. In 2017, after 18 years together, Patricia was called home by her Creator. On April 4, 2019, at age 85, Oren quietly joined her in eternity.

He is missed by his sibling, Lorraine Hankins of Columbia Falls, Mont., and her family; daughters, Cynthia (John) Laramie of Rio Linda, Calif.; Rebecca (LeeAllen) Leier of Rugby, N.D.; and Elizabeth (Robert) Podner of Norfolk, Va.; and their families.

Oren will be laid to rest with military honors at 2 p.m. on June 18, 2019 at Plains Cemetery in Plains. Please contact Wayne at Sunset Hills Funeral Home for information/flowers at 406-826-5653.
