THREE-YEAR-OLD August Ward came all the way from Tioga, N.D., to ride in Saturday’s parade.

There was an abundance of outstanding, colorful costumes worn by youngsters for the Homesteaders Day Kiddie Parade held at noon Saturday, June 8 on Main Street in Hot Springs.

Some of the first-place entries included Joshua Clarke, a knight in shining armour; sister Brielle Clarke, as Dorothy of the Wizard of Oz, with Toto; and Niyah Barber, as an original homesteader.

Here are the parade place-winners:

Homesteaders — first, Niyah Barber; second, Elizabeth Mazanec; and third, Kember Keefe.

Fairy Tale — first, Joshua Clarke; second, Kyla Redfern; and third, Emma Redfern.

Pets — first, Brielle Clarke; second, Owen Wilson; and third, Braden Fisher.

Wheels — first, Ziyah Hensrude; second, Murray Kelley; and third, Heather Weatherby.

Miscellaneous — first, Melodie Cook; second, Mikiah Cook; and third, Romin Tunis.
