Accidental shooting last Friday leaves Plains girl injured

A 9-year-old Plains girl is recovering from an accidental shooting that occurred Friday afternoon during a hunting trip.
At about 3:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 11, first responders were called in for an accidental shooting.
According to Deputy Wildon of the Sanders County Sheriff’s Office, a mother and her daughter were hunting when they reportedly returned to their vehicle when there was a misfire. The accident happened somewhere on between Thompson River Road and Upper Lynch Creek road.
The daughter, later identified as Sage Doble, was wounded and rushed to the emergency room at Clark Fork Valley Hospital. She was later taken to Sacred Heart Children’s Hospital in Spokane.
According to information on the GoFundMe page, Sage’s mom drove her out of the mountains where they met an ambulance. She was transported to the local hospital where she underwent emergency surgery to stabilize her. She was then taken by air to Sacred Heart Children’s hospital in Spokane, Washington.
“Sage has been in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit at Children’s for three days so far,” was written on the page. “On October 12th, which also happened to be her 10th birthday, Sage underwent her second surgery. She is in stable condition but has a long road of healing ahead of her. Medical bills add up quickly as do daily expenses of raising a family.
“Both Josh and Rachel, Sage’s parents will be staying with her while she recovers. Her siblings will be staying with loved ones for the duration of her hospital stay. We thank you in advance for any help that you could provide this young family in their time of great need. Sage does not have medical insurance coverage so the family is absorbing all of the tremendous costs associated with this accident.
