How to help local food bank
Dear Friends of the Food Bank:
We want to thank our community and our contributors for their support throughout the years. Your generosity makes it possible to make our mission statement a fact to “END HUNGRY TOMORROWS, TODAY.”
We are pleased to announce that we will partner with Town Pump Charitable Foundation to participate in the annual “BE A FRIEND IN DEED, HELPING THOSE IN NEED,” fundraising campaign.
This is our most important event of the year. The funds raised in this campaign will keep the food bank shelves stocked and our doors open for our clients. Town Pump will partner with 84 food banks across the state to help those in need who suffer from hunger.
In Montana 116,120 people are struggling with hunger, including 36,910 children.
One in nine people struggle with hunger in Montana. Town pump will match dollar to dollar up to $7,500 all funds donated to the local food bank by November 30, 2019. So, any donation will count double during this fundraiser. What a great time to make a difference. The money donated stays right here locally to purchase food for your friends and neighbors in need.
Google has the poverty level in Mineral County at 20.1% of our population of apx. 4,200. This means that about 840 people are living on an annual income of less than the federal poverty rate for their household size. The Community Food Bank of Mineral County in Superior assisted 2,456 adults/ seniors, and 651 children in a 12 month period giving out over 43,000 pounds of food. The fastest growing demographic in need is becoming seniors on fixed incomes.
I have served with the local food bank for over 30 years and sadly the need just keeps growing. All of our volunteers are unpaid and give unselfishly of their time and resources, but we could not keep the doors open and the shelves stocked without your continued generosity.
Donations are tax deductible and receipts will be mailed out to anyone providing a mailing address.
Donations can be made at the Town Pump in Superior, mailed to Community Food Bank of Mineral County at Box 46, Superior, Montana, 59872 or stop by the food bank any Friday from 10 a.m. to noon and 1 to 3 p.m. 308 Pine Street, in Superior.
Thank you for helping our community make a difference.
Sincerely,
Roselyn Duncan, Secretary, Community Food Bank of Mineral Co.
