The Wildhorse Youth Soccer Association U18 girls team rallied from a 6-2 deficit to force overtime and beat host Stillwater Christian Saturday to claim the North West Specialty Schools Tournament.

The Plains-based team won its first three games, Chrysalis (8-1), Polson (4-0) and Stillwater (3-1) to advance to the championship game.

The game was tied at halftime at 2-2 when key defender Maddie Carter was injured and had to come out of the game.

Stillwater quickly scored four goals to take a 6-2 lead.

But Wildhorse got stingy on defense and Claire Wrobleski scored five goals for the champs, including the game-tying goal with about two minutes left.

After two scoreless overtime periods, the game ended in penalty kicks with Wildhorse making four of five kicks and goalkeeper Anna Pallister courageously saving goals.

“We couldn’t have done it without teamwork, commitment, and answered prayer. It was a miracle game,” Coach Julie said.

Chloe French scored Wildhorse’s other goal.

Wildhorse will resume playing next spring.
