Asa 'Hartley' Helm, 83

Asa “Hartley” Helm, 83, of Cape Fair, Missouri, passed away Saturday, Feb. 1, 2020, at his home in Cape Fair.

He entered this life Jan. 5, 1937, in New Meadows, Idaho, the son of Emery and Helen (Henderson)

Helm. Arrangements and cremation are under the direction of Cremations of the Ozarks.

Hartley graduated from high school in Glenns Ferry, Idaho, then proudly served our country in the U.S. Navy. While serving, he was a nuclear engineer and crossed over the equator. In his working years, Hartley was an engineer for the cities of Las Vegas and Henderson, Nevada, for 45 years. He was a hard worker, kept up with his lawn, and enjoyed gardening and the outdoors.

Leading an active lifestyle, Hartley went skydiving at 80 years old. He was an avid golfer and during his younger years, he was a multi-sport athlete. He achieved many accomplishments throughout his lifetime, and at the top of his list was the joy of his family.

Many lives have been touched and memories made. He will be greatly missed.

Hartley is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Donna Lois Helm; son, Steve Hartley Helm; daughter, Caryn Lenea Ocamb; grandson, Billy Robinson; and sister, Erma Farmer.

He is survived by his son, Scott (Jami) Helm of Cape Fair, Missouri; daughter, Cami Jo Garland of Seattle, Washington; daughter-in-law, Jean Helm of Berryville, Arkansas; 13 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; brother, Emery (Pam) Worth Helm of Idaho; sister, Verna (Harold Friez) Helm of Montana; and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service was held Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2020, at the Living Word Church in Branson West, Missouri, with Pastor Jessica Gibson officiating.
