Lady Hawks claim 7-B championship

The Thompson Falls girls basketball team beat Eureka, 39-28, last Saturday to win the District 7-B championship.

Megan Baxter scored 14 points, six coming in the fourth quarter as Thompson Falls pulled away to beat the Lady Lions.

Baxter’s efforts and a 3-pointer by Faith Fields helped the Lady Hawks outscore the Lions 15-5 in the final frame.

As with the boys tournament, all four teams that played Saturday advance to the Western B Divisional Feb. 27-29 in Hamilton.

The Lady Hawks (16-4) reached the title game with a 63-51 win over Mission. Thompson Falls led 30-20 at halftime.

Jody Detlaff led the way with 19 points while Ellie Baxter scored 17. Megan Baxter chipped in with 8 while Belle Cooper and Faith Frields each scored 7.

Azia Umphrey led Mission with 21 points.

Bigfork topped Mission 53-25 in the girls consolation game.
