T-Falls girls complete perfect weekend with win over Troy
The Thompson Falls Lady Hawks scored a second straight convincing win to their resume, conquering Troy, 64-11, Saturday.
“Again were just trying to be the hardest working team in the gym and were trying to be relentless,” head coach Chadd Law said. “Relentless on both ends of the court. We’re going to take every opportunity to improve and to love each other more.”
The game started with the Lady Hawks taking the lead with a 3-point shot by Faith Frields, making it 7-2.
Frields long-rang shot kick-started a 20-0 run as Thompson Falls built a 22-2 lead.
A few moments later, in the second quarter, Caity Alexander scored a layup starting another massive run that ended with the score at 47-6. During that time Elli Pardee scored two layups and three free throws. The first half ended with a score of 47-7.
“The second half we thought the job was done and we just tried to move the ball around. We didn’t want to press or trap so much,” Laws said.
In the second half, Jody Detlaff hit several free throws to give Thompson Falls a 40-point lead.
The Lady Hawks play Mission in Thompson Falls this Thursday.
Laws knows his team will be in a battle.
“Mission is a very athletic team, they’re good basketball players,” he said. “They’ve got some kids that can really score. I look for it to be a very tough game. hopefully we can continue to get better and just love each other and be relentless.”
