The Lady Mountain Cats are on the prowl.

After squaring their basketball season record at 3-3 last weekend, the young Cats grabbed a pair of lopsided wins this past Friday and Saturday.

On Saturday night, Clark Fork traveled to Victor to take on the Lady Pirates who have yet to win a game. The Lady Cats jumped to a quick lead and used their trademark swarming defense to secure a 52-18 win over Victor.

The Mountain Cats jumped ahead 16-6 after the first quarter, with a combination of defense, rebounding and evenly distributed scoring. They kept the pressure on and continued to score inside and out in the second quarter on their way to a 32-8 halftime lead.

The Cats continued attacking after halftime time, outscoring the Lady Pirates 12-4 to take a commanding 44-12 lead heading into the final quarter.

Clark Fork had three double-figure scorers, including 13 each from senior Emmah Baughman and sophomore Cassie Green. Freshman Darby Haskins added 12 to the Cats cause.

Friday night’s home game with Noxon was much the same story. The Lady Cats used their dominating pressure defense and the scoring of Sorren Reese to grab a 25-8 lead at the end of the opening quarter.

Noxon rode the scoring Avery Burgess to keep it within reach, but the Cats won the quarter 17-12 to push their lead at the half to 42-20.

The Clark Fork scoring binge cooled a bit in the third quarter, but they still outscored Noxon 11-4, their defense continuing its stifling ways as they extended their advantage to 53-24 with eight minutes remaining.

In the end the Lady Mountain Cats recorded an impressive 60-36 victory.

Reese was the game’s leading scoring, totaling 18 points for Clark Fork. Two other Mountain Cats, 5-8 sophomore Zoe Kelsey (12 points) and freshman Darby Haskins (11 points) were double-figure scorers for Clark Fork.

Burgess led Noxon with 14.

The win, coupled with Saturday’s win over Victor upped Clark Fork’s season mark to 5-3. Noxon fell to 2-5 with Friday’s loss.

The Lady Mountain Cats host Valley Christian Friday night, then hit the road for a game with Darby on Saturday.
