Green leads Mountain Cats at Cut Bank Invite
The big two came through for the Clark Fork wrestling team last weekend, helping them to a fifth place finish in the 29-team Cut Bank Booster Invitational.
The Mountain Cats’ Trey Green improved his season record to 20-2 with a first place finish in the 182-pound division, while Clark Fork teammate Jacob Lapinski suffered a rare loss but still finished second in the 275-pound class. Lapinski is now 23-3 on the year.
The top two finishes helped the Cats amass 130 points, just behind fourth place Mission/Charlo with 135 points. The Havre Blue Ponies won the team title with 211 points, followed by Fergus of Lewistown (196.5) in second and Whitehall (146.5) in third.
Green won his individual title by pinning Dakota Dorn of Jefferson High 30 seconds into the final round. Lapinski, who has been dominant in the heavyweight division, lost a 7-6 thriller to Dylan Morris of Fergus.
Freshman Ryder Hansen added to the Cats total with a 4 th -place finish in the 103-pound division, losing to Browning’s Chris Hall by a 6-4 score. Clark Fork also got final round points from Decker Milender, who won 5th place with a 14-6 win over Christian Davis of Jefferson, 14-6; and 205-pound freshman Chandon Vulles who finished 6th.
Other area finals finishers were: Thompson Falls 126-pounder Roman Sparks, 6th; Thompson Falls Elijah Ratliff, second in the 132-pound class; two Mission/Charlo wrestlers who finished first, Issac DuMontier at 145 pounds and Isaiah Alik at 170 pounds; Darwin Adams, Mission/Charlo, 4th at 152 pounds and 160-pounder Cameron Ross of Whitefish who took 4th at 160.
Thompson Falls finished 21st in the team standings with 21 points.
