Plains Paradise Senior Center keeping its doors open

The Plains Paradise Senior Citizens Center will be continuing its mission of serving as a focal point for senior services in the Plains Area.

A new head cook has been hired, Carol Sugarbaker. The positions of assistant cook and site manager are still open as of this writing.

Elections have been held and the center now has an active governing board.

Newly elected president is Sherryl Wachob and vice-president Nita Dyches. The current secretary/treasurer is Judy Hulme, whose term ends January 2021. The president and vice-president are elected for one-year terms; the secretary/treasurer is elected for 2 years.

Newly elected board members are Linda Bursell and John Sheridan, both of whom will serve until January 2022.

Continuing board members are Gary Baltz and Lynn McAtee whose terms end January 2021.

Any person at least 50 years of age may become a member of the center.

Annual dues are $5 per year, payable in January.

Meals are served Wednesday and Friday, beginning at 11:45 a.m. Anyone, any age, may eat meals at the center. The cost is $5 for seniors 60 and older, $7 for anyone under 60.

Meals include entrée, vegetables, starch, salad, fruit and dessert.

Home delivered meals are available within a 10-mile radius.

Bingo takes place after the meals on Wednesday and Friday. Saturday, the center is open for pinochle and other games.
