Dorian Jeannette Wendt Grunhuvd
Dorian Jeannette Wendt Grunhuvd, 94, went to be with her loving God on June 20, 2020 surrounded by loved ones at her home in Superior, Montana.
Dorian was born Sept. 1, 1925 to Fred and Ruby Wendt in Racine County, Wisconsin. She attended school in Union Grove, Wisconsin where she graduated from high school on May 25, 1943. She worked for Wisconsin Gas & Electric until she married the love of her life, Russell Norris Grunhuvd, on June 26, 1948.
The couple moved to Superior, Montana to start a family then later on to Hysham, Montana where they remained until 1984. While in Hysham Dorian worked as the school clerk and treasurer. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church where she served as choir director.
In 1984 she and Norris moved back to Superior, Montana where they operated the Strand Theatre for 15 years until they retired for real this time.
Dorian joined the Methodist Church in Superior where she served as choir director until a time she was unable to do so.
Her love of music served her well throughout her lifetime. She played the piano and accordian and sang like a mountain warbler.
Dorian was a fine seamstress and made sure her girls were, each year, dressed in the prettiest of Easter dresses.
Dorian was an active member of the Sweet Adelines International and the Red Hat Society.
She enjoyed cooking and there was never anyone who sat at her table that went away hungry. She was a master baker with wedding cakes being her specialty.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Norris, a daughter Linda Dennis, a brother Ronald (Bud) Wendt and two sisters Geraldine Bonenfant and Arlene Day.
Dorian is survived by a son, Tom (Terry) Grunhuvd, Miles City, Montana; daughter Carol (Gilbert) Wilson, Superior, Montana; daughter Peggy (Marlowe) Aldrich, Billings, Montana; son-in-law Bill Dennis, Missoula, Montana; grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren, and a multitude of loving family and friends too numerous to mention.
Family only graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, July 9, 2020 at Superior, Montana Cemetery with Pastor Waveland King officiating.
A celebration of Dorian’s life and a memorial service will be at a later date. we ask in lieu of flowers that donations in her honor be made to one of the following: United Methodist Church, Superior, Montana; Community Presbyterian Church, Hysham, Montana; or Treasure County 89’ers Museum, Hysham, Montana.
