Sanders, Mineral voters pick school trustees; St. Regis levy passes

The ballots are back and the voters have spoken in Sanders and Mineral counties on a number of school-related elections.

Here’s a look at the winners and results from Tuesday’s mail-in election the various school trustee elections in Sanders County.

In Plains, for School District No. 1, Erika Swanson Lawyer and Ronald G. Warren claimed the three-year terms. Lawyer led all candidates with 455 votes while Warren was next with 423, edging Ellen Childress, who collected 418.

Also getting votes were Rose M. Wagoner (366), David S. Costner (271) and Julie Costner (278).

For the one unexpired trustee position in Plains, a one-year term, Monica Weedeman won it with 431 votes.

Karrie Shinnick-Lulack tallied 418 votes and Amy A. Schrenck had 264.

In Thompson Falls District No. 2, Jacob Helvey grabbed one three-year seat with 814 votes but the second seat up for grabs turned out to be a nail-biter as Ryan J. Frields’ 526 votes topped Ashley Block’s 525.

Block had a one-vote edge in Trout Creek but Frields had 504 in Thompson Falls to her 502.

For Trout Creek Elementary School District No. 6, two three-year positions were available.

Mary E. Meyer, 228 votes, and Zachary P. Hannum, 205, claimed them. Ernest Scherzer had 106.

In Noxon, for School District 10’s one three-year term, David Pafford was running unopposed and garnered 336 votes.

For the lone one-year unexpired term, Reuben Habegger collected 260 votes to best Andrew Chaboya Cabaccang, who had 185.

In Mineral County, both levies for St. Regis School passed.

The unofficial results show the general fund passed by 37 votes with 202 people voting for it and 165 against.

For the building reserve fund, it passed by 43 votes with 205 for and 162 against.

For Alberton School District No. 2, Cody Nagy and Gary Gagliardi claimed both three-year seats.

Nagy garnered 172 votes while Gagliardi had 163. Candidate Jane Moore had 93.
