This year a historic October snowstorm may have scared off more entries for the annual St. Regis Scarecrow Row off of Highway 135.

Participants were welcome to start displaying their creations on Oct. 24, but that also coincided with a foot of snow and bitter cold temperatures.

St. Regis Community Council secretary Glenn Koepke helped with the judging on Halloween afternoon. First place went to a lovely scarecrow perched on a swing created by Penny Sundberg.

Marie Lewis of St. Regis received second place with her spooky skeleton duo.

Third place went to the Monsters Inc. scarecrow crafted by the St. Regis High School Shop Class.

In the spirit of harvest time and giving the community council also held a food giveaway on Halloween.

With a surplus of frozen foods they distributed supplies between the St. Regis Senior Center, the local commodities program, and several other families in need.
