Area gridders make 6-man football all-state team

All-star honors are pouring in for area 6-player high school football teams, including a pair of Hot Springs juniors and three players from Noxon High.

The preliminary tally of votes for All-Conference and All-state honors for the recently concluded football season is headed by junior Shaw Davis, who helped White Sulphur Springs reach the state six-player championship game where they finished second to the co-op team of players from Froid and Medicine Lake in eastern Montana.

Hot Springs junior Kyle Lawson, a standout wide receiver and defensive back finished second in the voting. Joining Lawson on the all-star roster is Savage Heat junior quarterback and defensive back Jack McAllister, who was listed fifth in the balloting.

The Red Devils from Noxon landed three players on the list of all-star selections, headed by Cade VanVleet, a talented junior who finished third on the list. Seniors Jared Webley and Josh Baldwin also made the selection sheet for Noxon, tallying the sixth and eighth most votes respectively.

Conference champions White Sulphur Springs had five players nominated, including two seniors and three juniors.

The list of talented players returning for next year promises to create a very competitive 2021 conference battle.
