Plains and Thompson Falls opened the 2021 softball season last Tuesday at home and the Lady Hawks claimed an 11-5 win.

The Lady Hawks trailed the Trotters 5-4 heading into the bottom of the fifth inning before a seven-run inning propelled them to the first varsity softball game in nearly two years after the coronavirus pandemic cancelled the season.

After a rocky start in which she allowed four runs in the first two innings, senior Lady Hawk pitcher Riley Wilson settled in and gave up just two tallies the rest of the way.

Wilson struck out two in a complete game effort.

Cheyla Irvine, Shelby Lane and Dylan Vigil each had two hits. Lane knocked in three runs.

Plains returns to action Saturday, hosting Deer Lodge. Thompson Falls plays at Mission Thursday.
