Curtis D. "Curt" Carlson

Curtis D. “Curt” Carlson, 63, of Superior, passed away Monday, March 29, 2021 at his mom's home after a long battle with pancreatic cancer.

Curt was born Aug 18, 1957 in Pocatello, Idaho, to Bill and Leah Carlson.

Curt was a compassionate person and maintained a positive attitude and always kept busy. He started his working career delivering the Missoulian newspaper sixth through ninth grade.

After high school he worked in a silver mine in Idaho. He left there to work for Mercado Logging as a sawyer in Western Montana and Northern Idaho, sometimes fighting forest fires.

Later he worked seven years in Seismographic Exploration for Bertram Drilling, sometimes a roustabout and sometimes a roughneck. They covered many states in search of oil.

His work history includes processing crab on the Bering Sea for Icicle Seafoods, Alaska Star Division and Pfi plant. He was certified to use different types of machinery and tools. Transvac Fish Pump, cooker hoist, Ryan Tech, spent time tending #3 Chink. Also, on dock cranes, forklifts and much more. He had excellent knowledge of knots and ropemanship.

After 13 years of working on the Bering Sea, he was detained on land and decided to work for Tricon Timber in St. Regis, he worked in the maintenance department for 10 years until he became too sick to work.

He was preceded in death by his father and two brothers, Clifford and Ivan, and his girlfriend Luchea Cooper.

Curt is survived by his mother and brother Elliott, nieces Amanda and Bobbie and families. He was a "Dutch Uncle" to Tia & Leah Best. Ex-wife Heather of Toronto, Canada, and many friends who will miss him dearly.

A prayer service and cremation was held at Garden City Funeral Home. Internment will be at Superior cemetery. No further services are planned at this time.
