Cheryl Hartman King

Cheryl Hartman King was born in Clarinda, Iowa, on Jan. 4, 1948, to Harold and Jean Hartman. 

She passed on April 5, 2021, at Clark Fork Valley Long Term Care in Plains, Montana due to complications of dementia.

Cheryl grew up on a farm near New Market, Iowa with six siblings. She graduated from the Nebraska Hospital School of Nursing in 1969 and later received her Bachelor degree from Eastern Kentucky University. 

Cheryl worked for many years as a nurse in intensive care, emergency care and

cardiac cauterization in hospitals in Florida, Kentucky and Montana.

Cheryl married Ronald King in December 1973. They had two daughters, Veronica King and Tracy Capote, and also three grandchildren, Autumn, Mikey and Emmalee who Cheryl cherished with all her heart. 

Cheryl and Ron loved a new adventure and enjoyed camping, rafting, fishing and other outdoor activities. After retirement they moved to Plains, Montana, where they built their dream home in the mountains. Cheryl loved having family and friends visit and was an excellent hostess. 

Survivors include daughters, Veronica and Tracy, her grandchildren, siblings Galen (Leanne) Hartman, Roger (Dee) Hartman, Linda (Denny) Hruby , Bill (Kellie) Hartman and Carol Hartman as well as many nieces and nephews. 

Cheryl was preceded in death by husband, Ron King, parents Harold and Jean Hartman, brother Larry Hartman and a very special dog Bitzy. 

Family was unable to visit Cheryl during the last year of her life due to COVID.

The family is grateful to Clark Fork Valley Hospital long term care for the loving and compassionate care given to Cheryl during this time.
