The Cabin Fever Quilting Guild has worked hard for two decades to support its communities and last weekend at the in Mineral County Fair the members were able to share the fruits of their labor.

Member Susan Charles said 137 quilts were entered as well as wall hangings and table runners.

Charles showed off one of her lovely creations which will be a Christmas gift in a few more months for her granddaughter. “Winter Tidings” featured animals such as a baby fox, a white-tailed deer fawn, doves and rabbits.

Other panels included phrases “Joy,” “Love,” “Peace” and “Noel.”

Debbie Touchette finished the item with the machine quilting process.

Each year, the guild makes a quilt for the purpose of a raffle to support someone in need. It takes many hands to complete the project and this year’s recipient is guild past president Kathleen Brown, who is facing unexpected medical issues.

The Guild supports the county BACKPACK program, local and school libraries as well as music and arts program and scholarships to graduating high school seniors. They also give quilts to Mineral County resident veterans, nursing home residents, law enforcement and quick responders to keep in their vehicles and to families who suffered personal loss and trauma due to house fires or other tragedies.

Here are the people’s choice ribbon winners:

Best of show went to Patricia Robinson. She also won for self-quilted bed quilt.

Erin Woodson, the featured quilter at this year’s show, won for best baby quilt.

Rose Gotcher won for professionally quilted bed quilt.

Leslie Garber won for mystery quilt and modern/contemporary while Glordine Johnson won for miscellaneous/novelty and exchange.
