Mineral County Community Foundation supports those in need
Tuesday, Nov. 23 was a good day to give thanks when the Mineral County Community Foundation delivered or mailed checks to support local food banks and several other organizations.
A grant of $8,728 was provided to the Foundation from the Montana Community Foundation to "provide recovery funding for rural and tribal communities adversely affected by the Covid-19 pandemic. The pandemic put a lens on many
cracks within communities, from lack of childcare to food insecurities and workforce shortages.”
The Board of MCCF had several discussions on how these funds would best be utilized by local organizations. The consensus was to support food banks or organizations that provide and distribute food and necessary items.
Another area in need was to support an organization that provides for mental health support through counseling.
The grants of $1,247 were awarded to the Community Food Bank of Mineral County, the Alberton Food Pantry, the DeBorgia School Foundation, and New Day Fellowship — all who provide direct support of food to families in need.
The Superior Community Outreach is a transportation service that delivers meals and provides transportation to individuals who can’t drive themselves. Women in Timber and Mineral County HelpLine also received grants to support the valuable work they provide to community members.
All of these organizations are run by volunteers who work tirelessly to support families in Mineral County.
It would be difficult to put a monetary value to the thousands of hours of volunteers in the numerous non-profit organizations in Mineral County.
But we can show our appreciation with a big shout out: Thank YOU to all the many volunteers in our communities!
