Thompson Falls towers over Noxon

Balanced scoring and a lot of it are just two of the reasons the Thompson Falls girls basketball team wrapped up the pre-break part of its season with an unblemished record.

Four players scored in double figures as the Lady Hawks demolished Noxon 76-24 this past Tuesday in Noxon.

The Lady Red Devils were simply outmatched in a contest that was all but over by the end of the first quarter.

Thompson Falls used its height, experience and talent to overwhelm Noxon 32-6 in the opening eight minutes of play.

And the second quarter of play was almost identical to the first quarter, with T Falls outscoring the host Lady Red Devils 30-6 to coast into the halftime break with a staggering 62-12 lead.

By then, the Montana high school Mercy Rule, whereby the clock runs without stopping except for time outs if one team is 40 or points behind, had been enacted.

But with former Noxon player Avery Burgess leading the way, the game was long out of the reach of the beleaguered Lady Red Devils.

Playing mostly in the first half, Burgess wound up the game’s high scorer, piling up 20 points against her former teammates.

Both teams played the third quarter even up with six points each, then the Lady Hawks reserves outpointed Noxon 8-6 in the final quarter to reach the final score.

Also scoring in double figures for the Lady Hawks were post Ellie Baxter with 15 points, Natalie Roberts with 14 and Maliyah LeCoure who added 10.

Scoring totals for Noxon players were not readily available.

The win improved Thompson Falls to 6-0 heading into the Christmas break. They return to action next week with a game versus Mission Tuesday, January 4 in Thompson Falls. The Lady Hawks then travel to Eureka for a Friday encounter with the Lady Lions.

Noxon meanwhile will look to get back on the winning track when they journey to Pablo for a game against win-less Two Eagle River, Tuesday, January 4th. They continue their travel schedule with a game in Charlo on Friday, January 7.
