Clark Fork Mountain Cats are Western 14-C champs

The Clark Fork Mountain Cats are, without a doubt, enjoying their first season in the Western 14-C conference.

Riding a 10-game winning streak, the Mountain Cats are 9-0 in the conference and 10-1 overall after beating Charlo, 60-44, Saturday. They’ve earned a conference title while in their sixth season of a cooperative agreement between Superior and Alberton schools.

The Mountain Cat were in the Western 13-C conference a year ago and placed third, but their sights are set higher this year.

Four Clark Fork players scored in double digits, led by Carson Callison’s 14 points. Orion Plaake added 13 while Bryan Mask and Aaron Weddle each scored 11.

In other Class C boys basketball last week, Charlo topped Hot Springs 59-48, Thursday, St. Regis routed Noxon, 61-24, Friday, and Plains coasted past Noxon, 47-33, Saturday.

For the Horsemen, Nathan Feliska’s 16 points paved the way to win over the Red Devils.

Plains led by just three entering the fourth quarter before dominating the final frame.

Gavin Regalado added nine for the Horsemen.

Derrick Christensen and Wyatt Lackner each scored eight points for Noxon.

Plains is 2-6 in the conference and 2-7 overall. Noxon is 0-8.

Friday, St. Regis jumped out to a 19-2 first quarter lead over Noxon and were never challenged.

Caleb Ball led the Tigers with 16 points while Andrew Sanford scored 15 and Tanner Day added 13 points.

St. Regis is 5-3 in the conference and 7-3 overall.

Thursday, Hot Springs held a 2-point lead over Charlo at the half, but the host Vikings controlled the second half on the way to a 59-48 win.

Kyle Lawson led the Savage Heat with 14 points and Mario Garcia scored nine.

Stetson Reum led Charlo with 25 points while Keaton Piedalue and Roper Edwards each scored 15 points.

The Savage Heat is 4-4. Charlo is 5-4 in the conference and 6-5 overall.

Class B boys basketball

The Thompson Falls Blue Hawks split a pair of games last week.

Saturday, they beat Eureka, 60-47, as Dante Micheli scored 21 points. Kyle Pardee added 12 points and Justin Morgan 11 for the Blue Hawks.

Thursday, the Blue Hawks traveled to Missoula Loyola and lost 68-61.

Thompson Falls got 16 points from Pardee, 12 from Micheli and 10 from Cody Burk.

Raef Konzen scored 14 of his 23 points in the second half for the Rams, and Will Burns was right behind with 22 points, including 12 in the second half.
