14-C District basketball playoff pairings released

The 14-C District basketball playoff brackets have been released with action beginning Tuesday evening.

Due to precautions related to COVID-19, all games will be played at the highest available seed.

The Clark Fork Mountain Cats and Charlo Lady Vikings each finished league play with 10-0 records and are the top seeds in their respective tournaments. Each team has a bye into the semifinals. Also getting byes into the semis are the No. 2 seeds, St. Regis boys and Clark Fork girls.

In the boys playoff, two games begin Tuesday, both at 6 p.m. No. 3 Hot Springs will host No. 6 Noxon and No. 4 Charlo will host No. 5 Plains.

The Hot Springs-Noxon winner will play at No. 2 St. Regis at 6 p.m. Thursday and the Charlo-Plains winner will play at No. 1 Clark Fork at 7:30 p.m. Thursday.

Loser out games are scheduled for Friday. The consolation and championship games will be played Saturday evening at the higher remaining seed. Times will be either 5:15, 6 or 7:30 p.m.

After Clark Fork, St. Regis posted a 7-3 mark for second place in 14-C. Hot Springs and Charlo were tied at 5-5. Hot Springs claimed the third seed due to lots drawn.

Plains was fifth at 2-8 and Noxon sixth at 1-9.

In the girls playoff, No. 5 St. Regis plays at No. 4 Plains and No. 6 Hot Springs plays at No. 3 Noxon. Both games are at 6 p.m. Tuesday.

The Plains-St. Regis winner will play at Charlo Thursday evening (time TBA) and the Noxon-Hot Springs winner plays at Clark Fork at 5:15 p.m. Thursday.

In the girls final 14-C standings, Charlo was 10-0 with Clark Fork second at 7-3, Noxon third at 6-4, Plains fourth at 4-6, St. Regis fifth at 2-8 and Hot Springs sixth at 0-10.

If play-in games are necessary after the consolations are done, they’ll be held Monday, Feb. 22.
