Thompson Falls wins District 7B championship

Thompson Falls swept Eureka in the finals 3-0 to claim the District 7B volleyball championship on Saturday at St. Ignatius.

The Blue Hawks took little time in dispatching the Lions, winning 25-2, 25-17 and 25-12.

Thompson Falls rolled Bigfork 3-1 to get into the finals. Bigfork took the first set 28-26, but Thompson Falls rebounded with three straight set wins 25-9, 25-23, 25-22.

No stats were made available for the championship round.

On Friday, Thompson Falls topped St. Ignatius in three sets 25-11, 25-7, 25-21 to advance in the bracket. Avery Burgess had eight kills in that match to lead the team. Cheyla Irvine added six assists, while Scarlett Schwindt and Elli Pardee each had seven assists. Abbi Lane contributed two blocks.

Thompson Falls hosts the divisional tournament Nov. 4-6 as the No. 1 seed. They open against No. 4 Loyola. Eureka is No. 2 and Bigfork is the No. 3 seed.

St. Ignatius defeated Plains 3-2 in the first round of district play. Plains was eliminated by Eureka later in the day, losing to the Lions 25-11, 25-7, 25-21.
