Lynch helps commemorate new Plains School building

With a crowd of about 100 folks watching, Neptune Lynch eyed the rim of the basket and let the roundball he held fly.
As the orange sphere careened off the backboard and split the nets, the crowd roared.
The bucket was one to be remembered in the annals of Plains High School.
For Lynch it was surely one not to be forgotten.
The score marked the culmination of a long-time dream of many people, none more so perhaps than Thom Chisholm, the energetic superintendent of Plains Schools.
Lynch’s shot marked the culmination of dedication and ribbon-cutting ceremonies for the new, 12,000 square foot addition, the first basket made in the 8,000-square foot gym. He earned the honor, and that of cutting a ceremonial ribbon, in recognition of his generous donation that was instrumental in making the whole project possible.
With that basket and a plethora of “thank yous” and other forms of gratitude from Chisholm, the building was officially open.
Those who gathered for the ceremony were treated to snacks and a tour of the building, which sits just south of the main campus. In addition to housing a regulation size basketball court, complete with bleachers and portable stage equipment for performing arts presentations, the new structure provides badly needed room for the school’s arts department, as well as storage space.
As the press release provided by the school district concluded, “New is a great color, it looks good on anything.”
