Blacktail ski area to open for season Saturday
Blacktail Mountain Ski Area will open Saturday, Dec. 10 for the winter season, marking the earliest opening date in a decade for the ski slopes above Lakeside.
The Olympic chair, Thunderhead chair and Mighty Might handle tow are scheduled for operation. The Crystal Chair and additional terrain will open as conditions permit. The lifts begin spinning a 9 a.m. and close a 4 p.m., daily.
“I’m very proud of who we are, what we’ve done and who we continue to be in this community,” said Blacktail General Manger Jessi Wood. “I’m really excited to celebrate 25 years and to kick the season off a little early as well.”
Current forecasts for Saturday call for partly cloudy skies, a slight chance of snow, a high near 14 degrees and south to southwest winds 5 to 10 mph.
Blacktail Mountain will be closed Dec. 12-15, and will reopen Friday the Dec. 16 through Sunday, Dec. 18. The ski area will open daily Dec. 21 through Jan. 2.
