Tree of Life reception recognizes those who died
Clark Fork Valley Hospital invited residents last week to take part in the Hospice Tree of Life reception.
Hospice is a national organization devoted to the medical care for people with an anticipated life expectancy of six months or less and is funded through donors and sponsors.
The Plains chapter is sponsored by the Clark Fork Valley Hospital. The Hospice Tree of Life ceremony usually happens this time of the year and gives those who have lost loved one’s a time to reflect on their passing as well as share their stories with those similarly affected.
The attendees were welcomed by Clark Fork Valley Hospital Hospice Manager Deborah Ragan.
Pastor Al DeHaven gave the opening remarks, speaking about his fond memories, both good and bad of those no longer with him. After his opening remarks he sang a moving song called "Precious Memories."
During the candle lighting part of the reception, RN Jeanette Bredehoft, LPN Cindy Holland, RN Laura Lanfear, BSW Dawn Lyga read the names of the 109 individuals that passed away over the last two years in the Plains area. One of the many names read aloud was World War I veteran Orville Bjorge.
After the names were read aloud attendees were given an opportunity to share stories of their lost ones. Cards were available to write loved one’s name on and hang it on the Tree of Life Wall.
