Superior massage therapist 'listens' to the body
In 2003 when Jessie Vaillancourt graduated from college in Vermont, she moved to Alberton. She became the effervescent, fun-loving face of Alberton Feed in 2010 until it closed just before the pandemic in 2019.
But before the closure, she realized that her tiny body couldn't unload semis of hay and feed bags forever so she became a student at Massage Training Institute of Montana, in Kalispell.
“It was rigorous,” she beams. “I would recommend this school to anyone interested and I'll lend you my books!”
Traveling every other weekend for class on Saturday and Sunday did introduce her to some beautiful public land she never would have known about because she camped in the bed of her pickup.
Vaillancourt passed the national exam in October of 2018 and started working out of her house.
“I have a quiet, goat-free space that has been my studio since. This expansion to Superior proper was to help my regular clients access my help without having to drive as much in the winter,” she explains from her second location which is located at 405 Brooklyn Avenue.
She’s on the bottom floor of the two-story blue building directly across the street from the Superior Area Ambulance facility with the Superior Elementary School playground out her front door.
Vaillancourt practices many different massage techniques including the most widely known today which are Swedish Massage Therapy, Aromatherapy and Deep Tissue Massage.
“If there is a kind of massage you love, let me know and I'll learn about it! I love taking classes and learning how to better help my clients,” she smiles. “I try to tailor each session for the person on the table. Some folks really want a gentle, calming touch. This can calm the nervous system as much as the body. Others get pain relief with heavy pressure. I really try to listen to the body. And usually, the first session requires more dialogue as we get to know one another,” she explains.
Clients find out that she uses several different modalities in both of her studios. “Sometimes I use tools, like cups, to help move fluid and loosen fascia. I use CranioSacral techniques to quiet the mind and body to allow deep healing. This is gently feeling and moving the bones of our noggins and spinal column. And of course, I offer the smooth, long strokes of a classic Swedish massage.”
Her Superior office is open Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Monday and Tuesday’s massages are available at her home in Crystal Springs. She shares that it is easy to schedule online at www.farmtotablemassage.com and she can be texted, or called, at (406) 381-0394.
