Trio of Superior wrestlers undefeated at Mission Invite

Superior wrestling coach Charlie Crabb is a modest man of few words.

So on a day when his Superior Bobcat wrestlers finished first in five categories it would seem fitting he said of the day’s work “Overall a really good day”.

If nothing else, that would qualify as an understatement.

Competing in the Mission Invitational Wrestling event in St. Ignatius this past weekend, Crabb’s crew of wrestlers took home top honors in five weight categories, and added second place finishes in two more. And if that wasn’t enough his wrestlers also garnered three thirds.

Winning first place in the 126 pound category was Decker Milender, who also was first at last weekend’s big Ted Kato wrestling event. Milender went 5-0 on his way to the top in the Mission meet.

That was matched by 132-pounder Lucas Kovalsky, who also went 5-0 in winning that classification.

Two other wrestlers, Silas Acker at 182 pounds and Carter Woodson in the 205 pound category were also 5-0 meet champions.

The fifth weight class winner was heavyweight Chandon Vulles, who won 3 bouts without a loss on the way to first place.

Second place honors went to Micah Acker at 113 and Carler McLees at 160 pounds.

And the third place winners were: Chase Woodson, 170 pounds, Jaxson Green, 205 and heavyweight Kaleb Pearce.

Area wrestlers will now prepare for this weekend’s Divisionals in Butte, with qualifiers advancing to the state championships in Billings February 11-12.
